Coming from an Artistic family, I was always encouraged to pursue a career in the visual arts. My great grandfather Dr R. Douglas Strachan, the world renowned Scottish designer of stained glass, made me feel it was possible to make a career as a fine artist or artisan. In 2000 I won a place at the Glasgow School of Art, where I studied for a BA in Drawing and Painting. During this time I followed my passion for figurative art – citing Peter Howson and Lucian Freud as my inspiration. As an artist I am interested in creating very detailed drawings, paintings, moody portraits, and abstract still life pictures, that are not always what they seem.
