Edinburgh Macmillan Art Show 2018 – Art for a Great Cause

Macmillan Cancer Support has been holding its highly successful Art Show in Edinburgh for the past fifteen years. Our vision is to create a prestigious, quality event which will raise much needed funds to help people living with cancer.

Venue and Date

Once again we will be exhibiting in the beautiful Bonhams Auction House at 22 Queen Street, Edinburgh, where they very kindly let us use their galleries free of charge.

The dates of this year’s show will be Friday 24th – Sunday 26th August 2018 inclusive, with the preview on Thursday 23rd August. Once again, we will be open during peak Festival season in Edinburgh, and we will feature in the Fringe programme and other key guides to what’s on in Edinburgh during August, to share details of our exhibition with art lovers across the city.

Deadline

Please apply by Friday 15th June 2018. We will be unable to consider any submissions received after this date due to the number of exhibiting artists and to ensure smooth administration.

Guidelines

All work will be considered, but we do ask that the work:

  • is in any 2D medium (prints, drawings, paintings, mixed media etc.)
  • demonstrates quality, talent and originality
  • is appealing to a wide range of potential buyers – former and new
  • is priced realistically for our market, for example, work under £1,000 sells best
  • is professionally framed and presented
  • has not been exhibited in galleries in Edinburgh 6 months prior to our show
  • was not exhibited in a previous Edinburgh Macmillan Art Show

Donation to Macmillan

Each artist is asked to make a minimum donation of 50% of the sale price if the work sells. Some artists choose to donate up to 100% of the value, which we greatly appreciate, and which all goes to support people living with cancer.  All proceeds from the exhibition go to sustain the work of Macmillan Cancer Support, so we would take the opportunity to ask you to please consider whether you can donate more than 50%.
