I’ve always enjoyed painting both landscapes and still life. I work very much from imagination and find that incorporating my love of colour, shape, light and texture works well in both genres although landscapes are usually inspired by some place either from home in scenic East Lothian or somewhere I have visited.
I think my work could be described as semi-abstract. I love the paintings of Joan Eardley. Their vitality is tangible and this is something I aim for in my own work.
