My own journey as an artist began back in the 1960s where the local shopkeeper was convinced by my regular visits to buy pencils I was some kind of obsession. After eventually graduating with a postgraduate degree in Geology my love of the natural world would take some years to be expressed in art. Currently living on the Ayrshire coast I work predominately in oil to produce a bold and sometimes physical style to attempt to capture the energy and the drama of the coast and the open sea. My work is a constant exploration of the emotional pull of colour and texture to bring the sea and coast alive. My work is extensively exhibited in galleries across the British Isles and is held in private collection across Europe, Australia and North America
