Zygadlo, Denise

I studied printed textiles at Winchester Art College, working with First Eleven Design Studio, London before moving to Dumfries. After 4 children, I returned to my artwork joining the SSA and elected as a professional member. My work is based on the relationship between the human body and cloth, I am drawn towards detail, texture and the shared qualities of wrinkles, creases, folds and drapes. I make live photocopies of my wrapped body to transfer onto cloth and canvas, the individual images forming a collage to create the whole figure. My recent work incorporates classic sculpture; mixing gender, age, time and marble with skin.
I have exhibited often with SSA, Spring Fling Open Studios, various group exhibitions across Scotland, Berlin and am currently working with Arusha gallery, Edinburgh
