Neil Pettie is an Edinburgh based artist who started painting seriously some 17 years ago. Since then he has completed a 3 year painting course with the Open College of Art, topped up with sessions at the Edinburgh College of Art Summer School. For his inspiration he draws mostly on the our impressive local landscape, specialising in the many varieties of local flora, using his innate sense of composition and colour to create loose, semi abstract works which are both evocative and pleasing on the eye. He has exhibited in such far flung locations as Essex, Surrey, Inverness, Rome and in and around Edinburgh and has the distinction of having sold one of his paintings in a Royal Scottish Watercolourist exhibition in the Royal Scottish Academy.
