Learmont, Emily

I live and work in Edinburgh’s Old Town, in the midst of the historic architecture and Festival razzamatazz. My background is as a visual artist and art historian: I studied fine art at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools, and the history of art at the University of Edinburgh. I have exhibited my paintings at venues such as the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, Thompson’s, Marylebone and Open Eye Gallery, and undertaken a range of commissions. I have also illustrated for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Scottish Storytelling Centre and NHS Health Scotland. My recent work is inspired by a voyage on the Sound of Sleat and evokes ever-changing weather conditions, dazzling light effects and vastness of space.
