Grant, Aileen

I draw, paint and make prints – etchings, aquatints and linocuts. I work mostly in charcoal, ink, and acrylic, inspired by the sea and hills. I love to be in the wilds, walking and sketching. I like old structures that speak of the craft of the past, exploring the relationship between buildings and nature – possibly a legacy of my earlier career in town planning. Spent my early years in Fife, then lived in Edinburgh and now live in Lochcarron. Graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, worked for a number of years as a town planner, and in 2013 started drawing, painting and printmaking full-time. I now help to run a wee gallery in Lochcarron where I have a small printing press. I’ve had work selected for RSA Open, RSW Open, VAS Open, Scottish Drawing Competition and the Edinburgh Macmillan Art Show. Member of Edinburgh Printmakers, Highland Print Studios, VAS and SSA.
