Ruwona, Natasha

As an artist, I enjoy working in various mediums, with a focus on digital and installation work. I am about to begin a degree in sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, after successful completion of a contemporary art course. My main inspirations lie in the content that I am exposed to daily. Whether that be from books on topics such as sociology, race, feminism or politics, to scrolling down my Facebook news feed. I rely on software such as Photoshop and Premier Pro to aid my practice. I enjoy working in mixed media – by creating something that combines elements of digital with found objects for example. Using found objects creates a sense of realism within a piece, which is a topic I am forever interested in exploring within my work. Questions that I find myself asking myself often include – Where is the distinction between art and the artist’s life? Can our everyday actions become art?
