My work is inspired by the people and places around me. Usually something simple such as the quality of the light, the squiggle of a skyline, or the curve of a nose will first catch my attention; I’ll then get lost in the process of trying to interpret what I observe through the media at hand – usually pencils, pens, inks, and paints. I consider a piece a success when it manages to communicate something essential and meaningful to the viewer.
I was born in the US, and I’ve lived and worked in several countries along my way here. Scotland has been my home (and the inspiration for much of my work) since 2013. I am very happy to be participating in this exhibition and supporting Macmillan again this year.
