I’m a painter, art tutor, author of two books of art travel writings. Born and brought up in Scotland, trained at Edinburgh College of Art. Landscape, nature, environment are my passion and I love nothing more than being out exploring with binoculars, sketchbook, paints. I work in watercolour as it’s very portable and is flowing and immediate and exciting to use. In the studio I use acrylic, oil, watercolour.
Wildlife is a large part of who I am and birds in particular are often in my art. I’m involved in environmental campaigning and voluntary bird surveys for the British Trust for Ornithology. I run art workshops for Edinburgh charity Art in Healthcare and for groups and individuals. I give talks about my ScotRail-supported art & nature ‘Scotland by Rail’ travels.
I hope my work inspires people to discover and appreciate nature more. The more you know of nature, the more you value it. Loving it is our best hope of protecting what we still have. Protect it we must.
