Anderson, Margaret

I am a Scottish/Australian visual artist living and working in Edinburgh. I attended the Leith School of Art, Foundation and Painting courses. I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art/Edinburgh University BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting and drawing in 2014. I am currently at DJCAD in Dundee finishing a MFA in Art and Humanities. My practice comprises photography, painting, video and sculpture. I am interested in the narrative of human connections and the traces and marks left upon the landscape through the intervention of people. Within my paintings I have set out to explore, experiment and physically engage with paint, allowing each painting to take on its own character as shapes, colour and line develop into hybrid impressionistic and abstract representations. Images are broken down to their fundamental characteristics, thus allowing their unique identity and expression to be revealed. Glazes and natural pigments are applied in thin layers of paint over a period of time.
